An integral part of our program, we pursue relationships with our students’ parents/guardians because multi-generational work produces results impossible to achieve with siloed efforts that solely target students.
Knowing their children best, we draw from the insights, experiences, and feedback of families to address individual student’s needs and to shape our program for greater overall impact. We learn from them through:
- HOME VISITS: Face-to-face interactions with families in their neighborhoods allow us to foster trust and to listen to perspectives and suggestions that improve our program’s effectiveness.
- SENIOR LEAGUE: During monthly meetings, we team up with families to guarantee their graduating seniors’ fulfill their Two-Year Action Plans and fulfill career pathway goals.
- FAMILY COUNCIL: These gatherings involve group discussions that provide invaluable feedback and cover topics relevant for parents of high school students.
- FAMILY FUN NIGHTS: We bring students and their families together for get-to-know-you activities and entertaining games over a shared meal.
- PARENTS-IN-TOUCH CONFERENCES: These in-person meetings at schools each semester give us an opportunity to share their students’ progress as well as challenges and to hear their concerns.
- CRISIS SUPPORT: When families encounter difficulties, we connect them with resources that offer much-needed assistance.
With our intentional engagement of families, we strengthen connections with parents/guardians and empower their voice, an unequaled asset that enhances our efforts and improves sustainable outcomes.

Once in Elevate, Always in Elevate … our students hear this statement starting on day one with us. Not only do we repeat those words over and over throughout their time with us but also deliver on this promise. And it doesn’t end with graduation. Evidence of our commitment starts in the summer after graduation and continues as long as needed through:
Summer Bridge Program
keeps on track to fulfill post-secondary plans designed with us and offers support in the transition to adulthood
Thriving Youth Scholarships
eases the financial burden that comes with pursuit of post-secondary goals

Full Circle Investment, Our Ultimate Goal
As our program matures in the years ahead, we will continue to feed our talent pipeline with Elevate students and alumni through internships with the ultimate goal of hiring alumni as permanent employees, first serving in teacher-mentor and support roles and then moving into leadership positions after they gain experience and sharpen skills.
To date, two alumni have joined our staff team – one as a teacher-mentor and one in an administrative support role – with more to come in the future.
